Mission Folk Music Festival

Mission Folk Music Festival

Find Your Folk.  The Mission Folk Music Festival is one of the most popular annual music events, drawing crowds from the entire northwest.  Every July, thousands gather to listen to daytime stages, and evening main stage concerts featuring performers from every musica genre and every continent.  We are committed to expanding opportunities to highlight and celebrate the music, dance, art, and stories from cultures and communities from across Canada and around the world in respectful, fun, and engaging ways.

Vendors provide a huge variety of items from jewelry to clothing,; and the Festival tent has sales copies of tapes and products from the musicians. Food vendors do a brisk business. Camping on-site is available.

The Society was formed in 1988 by founding artistic director Francis Xavier Edwards  and a team of volunteers - musical friends who wanted more opportunities to play music for an audience.  The first festival was a one-day event held in Fraser River Heritage Park and featured Shari Ulrich, Cotton Street Band, John McLachlan and others.

Since then, it has grown into one of the finest performing arts festivals in the country, showcasing emerging local and BC musicians and bringing both popular and rarely-heard world artists to the Fraser Valley, sometimes for their only North American performance.

The outstanding success of the festival depends on hundreds of volunteers, a dedicated Board of Directors, and support from local businesses - and music lovers like you.
